A 28-year-old Bel Air man, charged with two counts of second-degree rape, was found not guilty by a Harford County jury Thursday evening.

David Bryan Swedo, of the 100 block of Bright Oaks Drive, was charged with rape after an alleged incident on Jan. 30, 2011, when a woman he knew told police she was raped, according to charging documents. The woman told police they went to sleep on an air mattress and she awoke to Swedo allegedly assaulting her.

Swedo was indicted in February 2011. After several postponements, his criminal jury trial started April 30 in front of Harford County Circuit Court Judge Stephen Waldron, where Swedo pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The trial concluded Thursday and the jury returned its not guilty verdict that evening, according to court records.
