An elderly woman was taken to a local hospital Monday after being hit by a car at a busy intersection between Bel Air and Forest Hill.
The woman was crossing the street on Route 24 and Forest Valley Drive when she was hit by a car, also driven by an elderly woman, according to a Maryland State Police duty officer at the Bel Air Barrack. The driver was sitting at the light and when it turned green, started to drive forward and hit the other woman, he said.
The woman, 72-year-old Anna Mettee, of Forest Hill, was walking across the intersection of the CVS Pharmacy on Route 24 when she was hit by a 2005 Ford Focus, driven by 81-year-old Frances Gosnell, also of Forest Hill, according to Lt. Charles Moore. Gosnell did not see Mettee, he added.
Mettee had minor injuries and was at Bayview Hospital in Baltimore in stable condition, Moore wrote in an e-mail Tuesday.
Gosnell was only going between 5 and 10 mph, so Mettee was not hit very hard, police said.
