Harford Transit LINK, will be providing a free shuttle bus service for the Veterans Day event at the Liriodendron Mansion, 502 West Gordon Street, Bel Air, on Saturday. The shuttle service will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All Harford Transit LINK buses are ADA compliant (wheelchair accessible) to make sure everyone is transported safely and comfortably, according to a county press release.
Passengers can board at the lower lot of the Liriodendron Mansion and the buses will take them directly to the building. Jim Ports, Harford Transit Link Administrator, is a veteran and a life member of the Marine Corps League Harford County Detachment 1198. He serves as a legislative officer.
The Harford County Historical Society, the Town of Bel Air and Harford County Government are hosting a three-day observance to recognize Harford County citizens' involvement in military history and to honor military veterans. The public is welcome to participate. Regular Harford Transit LINK buses will not be in service on Veteran's Day, Friday.
Harford Transit is a public bus system operating nine fixed routes Monday through Friday (except county holidays), serving Aberdeen, Abingdon, Bel Air, Belcamp, Churchville, Edgewood, Havre de Grace, Joppatowne, Perryman and points in between. Harford Transit also links to MARC Train services to Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Additionally, Harford Transit LINK operates paratransit (curb-to-curb) service and a New Freedom service which includes weekday evening hours for qualified individuals. The fare for children 3 and older and the general public is $1 each way. Reduced fares of 50 cents are available for senior citizens 60 and older, Medicare card holders and people with disabilities with a Harford Transit one-half fare pass. One fixed route transfer per fare is available at no extra charge; discounted 12-Ride Tickets are also available.
