A 5-year-old Forest Hill girl was flown to a Baltimore hospital Monday evening after a lawn mower accident left her with a double foot amputation, a Harford County emergency services spokesman said.
The accident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Kensington Farm Court, according to Rich Gardiner, a spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.
The person on the mower backed up, didn't see the child and backed over her, Gardiner added.
The unidentified girl was flown to the Childrens Hospital at Johns Hopkins for a double foot amputation as a result of that accident, according to Gardiner, who added that he believed the operator of the mower was the girl's father.
As of 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, no further information was available.
Monica Worrell, of the Harford County Sheriff's Office, said Tuesday afternoon they were not handling the incident.
This is the second lawn mower accident within the past month and a half in Harford County. A 9-year-old Jarrettsville girl was taken to the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Intensive Care Unit April 1 after a lawn mower backed over her foot, according to an Aegis article.
