Port City Bass Anglers will hold its seventh annual kids fishing festival and reel kids casting event at Bynum Run Park on Churchville Road in Bel Air this Saturday, July 16.
At this free event, junior anglers will participate in a tournament and have a fun day of fishing that will be split into two age groups from 5 years old through 15 years old.
Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the park entrance. The fishing will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
In addition, participating youngsters will have the option to compete in a casting, flipping and pitching contest.
Members of Port City Bass Anglers will assist each young person in the competition while also helping them during the practice time participants will have.
As part of the fishing rodeo, representatives of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources will be on hand around noon Friday to release fish in Bynum Run Pond.
The fish are supplied through the fees collected from fishing licenses and are raised in the Maryland hatcheries. The stocking is part of the efforts of Port City Bass Anglers to support the community and provide a fun day for kids and parents.
Prizes and trophies will be given out to the youth at the end of the event. There will be free food and drinks for all registered participants and their parents and guardians.
Bynum Pond is located off Route 22 (Churchville Road) north of Bel Air, just past John Carroll High School. Parking is available on the site.
