The body of an Edgewood man who jumped off a boat Sunday in the Chesapeake Bay was found Monday, according to Maryland Natural Resources Police.
Brandon M. Greene, 21, jumped from a drifting vessel and did not reappear on the surface after entering the water, Natural Resources Police spokesman Art Windemuth said in a news release.
Mr. Greene had jumped from a vessel to go swimming in the Chesapeake Bay, about a half mile west of Howell Point, near Betterton in Kent County, Windemuth said. Betterton is across the bay from Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Searchers from the Natural Resources Police, Maryland State Police aviation and Charles County Dive and Rescue searched the area by vessel, air and using side scan sonar, according to the DNR release.
It's unclear when Mr. Greene's body was found other than sometime Monday afternoon or evening.
His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy, according to Windemuth.
Maryland Natural Resources Police Special Operations Division is continuing an investigation of the accident.
Last year, two people drowned in Harford County over the long Memorial Day Weekend. A 19-year-old soldier stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground drowned while swimming in Deer Creek in Rocks State Park, and a 16-year-old Havre de Grace boy drowned while swimming in the Susquehanna River near the Amtrak bridge.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
