A family was displaced Tuesday morning after a house fire in Forest Hill.

Firefighters responded to the 2400 block of Dixie Lane around 4:35 a.m. for a two-alarm fire, according to Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association spokesperson Rich Gardiner.

Five adults and two children were displaced as a result of the fire, he added.

It took 50 firefighters an hour to get the fire under control and there were no injuries or deaths, according to a Maryland State Fire Marshal news release. The fire started on the exterior deck of the two story, wood framed residence and was discovered by an occupant.

The fire caused an estimated $500,000 damage to the structure and $100,000 damage to the contents, according to the news release. Firefighters responded from Bel Air, Jarrettsville, Fallston, Darlington, Level, Abingdon and Havre de Grace.

The cause is under investigation and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the fire marshal, 410-836-4844.

Deputy Chief Mark Bilger added the family is being assisted by other family members.
