Keith Marchiano is the Grand Knight for his Knights of Columbus Council (Father Maurice J. Wolfe Council 11372) and from May 3 to 5 led more than 300 of his members at the Maryland State Convention for the Knights of Columbus, which was held at the Princess Royale Hotel in Ocean City.

"This year, my Council achieved first place status among nine different categories, the most out of any council in our division," Marchiano explained. "This includes the 'Award for Overall Excellence by a Single Council' where we achieved first place. We're recognized as the 'Number One Knights of Columbus Council' in the State of Maryland."

The convention is held each year, where the Knights of Columbus of Maryland conducts business, participates in Mass at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ocean City, enjoys a banquet and celebrates the charitable accomplishments for each council in the state.

"We take pride in the thousands of dollars and volunteer hours our Council commits to various charities throughout the year. We don't do this for the awards, they're simply a bonus," Marchiano said.

The Knights of Columbus is an organization of Catholic men ages 18 and up who do charity work in the community and at the parish of St. Francis de Sales.
