Harford Community College, in cooperation with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, is offering a course for certification as an International Code Council (ICC) residential energy inspector/plans examiner, the Harford County Department of Inspections, Licenses and Permits announced.
The course will be held Wednesday evenings starting Sept. 19 through Nov. 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the college.
The course addresses provisions in the 2012 International Residential Code (IRC) and the 2012 International Energy Code (IECC). The class provides a basis for the correct use of the code in design, plan review, inspection and analysis of projects.
The course also provides a clear understanding and correct use of the requirements identified by these basic code provisions and assists in developing an understanding of the intent of the code when making code compliance decisions.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a voucher from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development which will enable them to take the ICC residential Energy Inspector/Plans Examiner certification examination.
