Edgewood man out on bail after drug-related armed robbery arrest

An Edgewood man was out on bond shortly after being arrested for allegedly helping to rob a man at knifepoint in a drug deal.

Harford County District Court Judge John Dunnigan had set a $25,000 bond for Rhaheim Welch, of the 600 block of Harr Park Court in Edgewood, on Tuesday.

Welch, who is 21, allegedly joined a friend on Dec. 1 to help lure another man into the robbery, according to charging documents.

The three met in the 2100 block of Cedar Drive in Edgewood at 6:35 a.m., with the victim expecting to buy marijuana.

The victim said after he walked with the other man behind the building, Welch allegedly attacked him, ordering him to give up money.

A fight ensued, at which point Welch allegedly produced a knife and ultimately took money from the victim's pockets.

Public defender Bruce Andres said at a bail review Tuesday that Welch is single, has no children, plans to start a job and finished 10th grade at Joppatowne High School.
