An interim superintendent of the Harford school system is expected to be announced early next month, according to a Harford County Board of Education member.
The school board plans to announce in early June who will be serving as interim superintendent of Harford County Public Schools, in place of departing Superintendent Robert Tomback, Robert Frisch, who represents the Edgewood and Joppa areas on the Harford County Board of Education, told members of the Edgewood Community Council at their meeting Wednesday.
The interim will serve through the next year while the board works with the public to find a suitable permanent superintendent.
"We'll be out there engaging the public... so they can have a say on what it is they want to see in the next superintendent, and they can have a voice in who that person may well be," Frisch explained.
Tomback announced in February he would be leaving the post he has held since 2009 "to pursue other opportunities." He will be stepping down when the school year ends in June, which coincides with the four-year contract he signed in June 2009. Tomback is paid $190,000 a year.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
