On Nov. 14, Harford Community College will join forces with Maryland's other community colleges for The Big Give – the first online fundraising effort of its kind nationwide. Never before have all of the community colleges in one state collaborated for a 24-hour fundraising event.
From midnight on Nov. 14 through midnight Nov. 15, the Harford Community College Foundation will use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to share the foundation's work to support the college and attract online supporters.
"With increased enrollment, support from the community is vital to our growth and quality as we try to remain accessible and affordable to so many students," Denise Dregier, Director of College and Alumni Development for the Harford Community College Foundation, said.
The Big Give, sponsored by the Maryland Community College Fundraising Professionals, is being supported by the Razoo Foundation, an online fundraising platform that will provide the technology and tracking necessary for a successful effort.
"By combining resources with the other community colleges to promote The Big Give and harnessing the power of social media, we hope to expand our reach and garner support from our alumni and members of the community," Dregier said.
