Registration is open for The Children's Center of North Harford's 2013 Summer Adventures Program.
Open to children ages 4 to 11, Summer Adventures is set to begin Monday, June 17 and offers 10 theme-based weeks of fun and learning. Weekly themes include The Rainforest, Prehistoric Times and Down on the Farm as well as many others. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Before and after care are optional and run from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Summer Adventures Program will be held in the newly renovated school-age classroom.
Each week includes a theme-related field trip and guest speakers. During Weird Science Week, participants will be delighted by a visit from Margie Lynch, better known as the Bubble Lady, as she amazes campers with the science of bubbles. A visit from Richard Anderson of the Snyder Animal Foundation during The Great Outdoors Week will bring the children face to face with the animals of Maryland, including a skunk and some wide-eyed owls. Participants will visit the time when dinosaurs roamed the earth by making paper mache dinosaurs and acting as paleontologists as they dig through rock to find dinosaur bones. A visit from Scales and Tales will make learning fun.
Pirate Week includes a field trip to Inner Harbor to be entertained by the Urban Pirates of Baltimore. This exciting field trip will include a one hour harbor tour on the pirate ship "Fearless" with the Urban Pirates as our hosts. Other field trips include swimming at the Conowingo Pool and a visit to the Fire Museum of Baltimore.
