VILLANOVA UNIVERSITY: Villanova University named the following students to the dean's list for the fall 2012 semester: Ava Calvano, from Forest Hill, pursuing a bachelor's degree in the College of Engineering; Chelsea Chu, from Forest Hill, studying biochemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; and Nicole Arcodia, from Fallston, studying comprehensive science in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Villanova University dean's list recipients are honored by their college's respective dean. To qualify, one must be a matriculated full-time student and earn a semester grade point average of at least 3.5.The College of Nursing requires students to earn at least a 3.5 for the academic year.
ANDERSON UNIVERSITY: Anderson University in South Carolina has awarded the following students scholarships: Michael Karsner, Provost's Scholarship, Bel Air, $6,500; and Mikayla Grove, President's Scholarship, $10,000, Forest Hill.
STEVENSON UNIVERSITY: Alicia Greene of Jarrettsville earned dean's list honors at Stevenson University for the first semester with a 3.92 GPA. She also plays on the women's soccer team at the school. Greene is a 2012 graduate of North Harford High School and is majoring in biology/chemistry. She is the daughter of Richard and Wendy Greene of Jarrettsville and sister of Richie Greene, granddaughter of William E. Grove Sr. and Ginger Grove of Fawn Grove, Pa., and Robert A. Greene and Lorraine Greene of New Park, Pa.
NOTRE DAME OF MARYLAND UNIVERSITY: Notre Dame of Maryland announced departmental awards at its 2013 Notre Dame Day celebration on Feb. 7. The following local students were among those honored: Alexis Lazaro, of Bel Air, successfully competed in the Federal Reserve Challenge; and Molly Murray, of Aberdeen, was inducted into the Gamma Theta chapter of the Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honor Society.
LOYOLA UNIVERSITY MARYLAND: Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its fall 2012 dean's list. To qualify, a student must have a GPA of at least 3.5 with a minimum of 15 credits. UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE: Several local students were among the newest members of the University of Delaware's Class of 2012, celebrated during Winter Commencement ceremonies Sunday, Jan. 6 in the Bob Carpenter Center in Newark, Del.: Jonathon Baker, of Edgewood; Timothy Lozinak, of Churchville; Nicole Muse, of Bel Air; and Jason Troyer, of Jarrettsville.
ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE: Lisa Loomer's comedic play "Distracted" was performed at Elizabethtown College Feb. 14 through Feb. 24. Lauren Cull, a sophomore from Fallston, participated as Jesse, and Madeline Cochran, a freshman from Bel Air, participated as Force of Distraction.
TREVECCA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY: Corinne Artman, a senior nursing major from Churchville, was named to the Trevecca Nazarene University fall 2012 dean's list. Persons on this list achieved a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester, and it recognizes the hard work and dedication of those students.
