The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office was investigating a vehicle in Churchville Wednesday evening.
As a follow-up to an incident earlier Wednesday involving a suspicious person trespassing, Harford County Sheriff's deputies were on the scene at the intersection of Routes 22 and 136, near the Branch Banking and Trust bank branch, according to spokeswoman Monica Worrell.
Around 7:45 p.m., while following up on the investigation, K-9 alerted to the vehicle that belonged to the earlier suspicious person, who had since been located, Worrell added. The K-9 could have alerted for several reasons, but as a precautionary measure, deputies called in a second K-9 unit with the Maryland State Fire Marshal.
As of 10 p.m., the state fire marshal's office was finishing up its assessment and sending in a robot as part of the active investigation, according to Worrell. Route 22 remained open through the investigation and no traffic was being detoured.
"At this time, no one is believed to be in any danger," she added. "What we're doing is strictly precautionary, but it's better to err on the side of caution."
No further information was available Wednesday.
