Joshua Jason Spies, 25, of the 700 block of South Union Avenue, was charged Sunday with second-degree assault.

Cynthia Lynn Smith, 51, of the 2000 block of Pulaski Highway, was charged Thursday with trespassing on private property.

Police responded to reports Friday of someone stealing 10 cases of beer from Coakley's Pub, in the 400 block of St. John Street. The person has apparently been gaining access to the pub over the course of a month.
