Police continue to investigate a fight in Perryman last week in which a New York man suffered a serious head injury.
A Harford County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman could not comment on whether the victim was involved in illegal drug activity or has any gang affiliations, citing the ongoing investigation.
Around 11 p.m. Aug. 24, Harford County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a call in the 200 block of Mayberry Drive in Perryman.
When deputies arrived they found 31-year-old Patrick Pollard, of Ozone Park, N.Y., bleeding from the head. They believed at the time that he had been shot; that turned out not to be the case.
He was flown by medevac helicopter to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.
Police initially believed a gunshot grazed Pollard's head during an argument with three to five unidentified black men, but later determined he was hit in the head or "pistol whipped," not shot.
It was unclear Thursday whether Pollard is connected to any illegal activity or what the argument could have been related to.
"It's an ongoing investigation, I don't have any answers to this at this time," Monica Worrell, public information officer with the sheriff's office, said.
