Winters Run bank repairs by Ma & Pa Trail crossing

The eroding east bank of Winters Run by the Ma & Pa Trail crossing between Bel Air and Fallston has been stabilized by rerouting the stream and filling the cut. The work was done between Monday, Feb. 13 and Thursday, Feb. 16, but it is only a temporary fix, according to Harford County Parks & Recreation.

Monday, Feb. 13 - The east bank of Winters Run has been washing away, as the stream changed its course just north of the Ma & Pa Trail crossing at right. According to an engineer hired by the county to devise an emergency plan to protect the boardwalk from being undermined, erosion of the bank was accelerated by flooding last year from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee.
