Welcome to Pam Gibson Johnson of Sun City, Calif., as she arrived in Port on Tuesday, Nov. 13 to attend homecoming at Tome Memorial United Methodist Church. "Palma" visited with her brother, Steve Gibson, and family of Port as well as friends in the area.
Belated birthday wishes are sent out to Nelda Snidow of Joppa as she added a year to her age on Nov. 16. Nelda enjoyed a spaghetti supper at Good Shepherd's Christmas bazaar last Friday evening in celebration of her big day.
Happy birthday wishes to Martha Hostetter as she celebrated on Nov. 16, and to Gerry Curry, as she celebrated on Nov. 18. Both celebrants are formerly of Port Deposit.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 8185 entertained the Perry Point veterans on Sunday, Nov. 18 at the post home, 520 Susquehanna River Road. DJ Bob Cross provided musical entertainment and the vets enjoyed karaoke after partaking of a delicious Thanksgiving dinner.
Best wishes are extended to our neighbor, Carolyn Spencer, Tome Highway, as she enjoyed birthday greetings Nov. 19.
I am blowing out a lot of candles today (Nov. 23) and my old classmate, Kathy Carson Collette, will celebrate her birthday Saturday, Nov. 24.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company will hold its annual Christmas prize bingo Saturday, Nov. 24 at the VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the games will begin at 7 p.m. This bingo is family-friendly and costs only $10 per person. Call Anne, 410-378-3338, for information or reservations. Prizes will be for all ages including toys, electronics, tools and household items, all just in time for Christmas.
The Port Deposit Heritage Corporation, founded in 1975, has scheduled its bi-annual Christmas Candlelight Tour for Saturday, Dec. 1 throughout Port's Main Street. The tour is always held on the first Saturday in December and this year's event will be held from noon until 5 p.m. There are 12 stops on the tour beginning with the Paw Paw Museum, 98 N. Main St., where tour tickets can be purchased for $15 per person. Tour tickets will also be sold at the Bank Building in the center of town. Homes include the Gerry House at 18 S. Main St., and the McClenahan Mansion, 90 S. Main St.
At the upper end of town, you will find the Swiss Chalet at 68 N. Main St. and a first-time tour entry at 114 N. Main St. Roxanne Sturdy alerted me to the fact that the Port Deposit Presbyterian Church will hold a bake and soup sale in the fellowship hall in conjunction with the Port Deposit Heritage Corporation's Bi-Annual Candlelight Tour on Saturday, Dec. 1. The Presbyterian Church is also the venue for music throughout the day. Plus, Roxanne reported the following vendors will sell their wares that day: 31 Bags and Tastefully Simple, as well as a beekeeper with honey and candles, a wreath maker and homemade jewelry. The house tour will run from noon until 5 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at the Paw Paw Museum or at the Bank Building. Enjoy Port's historic homes and buildings and finish up your Christmas shopping on Dec. 1.
