This is the weekend for yard sales! While I was on my way to Kilby Cream for an ice cream cone last week, I noticed several signs for yard sales scheduled for Saturday, including the annual event at Colony Acres (their rain date is Sunday), Harmony Lodge 56 and West Nottingham Presbyterian Church, all on Jacob Tome Highway between Port and Rising Sun.
Much sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Bill McAdams, Hopewell Road, as he succumbed at Christiana Hospital several days after suffering a head injury resulting from a fall at his home.
Best wishes to Harford County friends, Margaret and Gene Murray, Bel Air, as they celebrated their wedding anniversary on Sept. 21.
Norman "Spike" Wilson, Perryville, enjoyed birthday greetings on Sept. 22, as did the former Denise Liberatore and Glenna Tingle DeRose.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company will sponsor a Spaghetti Supper (carryout only) today (Friday) from 4 until 7 p.m. or until gone. You can order and pick up your dinners at Woodlawn Station, off Tome Highway. The dinners will cost $8 and will include spaghetti, salad, bread and dessert.

The Havre de Grace Elks 1564 will serve a Waffle Breakfast on Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m. at the lodge at 960 Pulaski Highway. The cost will be $6 per person. Enjoy good food and fellowship.
The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 8185 will sponsor a Quarter Auction on Sunday at the post home, 520 Susquehanna River Road. The doors will open at noon, lunch will be served at 1 p.m. and the auction will start at 2 p.m. The ticket cost will be $10 per person, which includes dinner and two paddles. Your favorite vendors will be there including old standbys like Longaberger, Tupperware, Vera Bradley, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, and thirtyone bags, plus new vendors like Pink Zebra and BooHoo Boxes. Proceeds will benefit the VFW's programs which assist our local veterans. Get your quarters together and then call Anne, 410-378-3338, for information or table reservations.
Darlington's Apple Festival is set for Saturday, October 5 starting at 10 a.m. throughout the town on the other side of the Conowingo Dam. Look for designated parking at strategic locations.
"Premier's Tribute to the Stars" is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 5 at the North East Fire Hall, 210 S. Mauldin Ave., North East with the doors opening at 4 p.m. The show runs from 4:30 until 8 p.m. and features music from Marty Robbins, Hank Sr., Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, the 1956 Elvis and more. Proceeds will benefit the fallen firefighters. Call 410-299-2187 for tickets or stop by the fire house Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until noon.
Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville, will serve its next all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the school hall. Their varied menu is sure to please all ages and the cost at $7 for adults is reasonable.
