Are you ready for some football? Best of luck to the Baltimore Ravens as they endeavor to win their second Super Bowl ring on Sunday in New Orleans.

Nora Ryan, past president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Maryland State Fireman's Association, attended last month's meeting of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company on Monday, Jan. 21 at House 2. After a covered dish dinner and an abbreviated business meeting, Nora installed the following officers for 2013: Stephanie Gibson as president, Cindy Bare as vice president, Anne Gibson as secretary, Charlotte LaFond as treasurer, Carrie McCall as chaplain, Maggie Jackson as color bearer and me as historian.

Happy birthday to Pat Job, Rising Sun, as she celebrated her big day Jan. 26. David Wayne Bitner, son of Wayne and Bobbi Bitner, enjoyed birthday greetings on the same day.

Carrie McCall, Conowingo, celebrated her birthday with her family Jan. 27. And Joyce Poist Jones, Perryville, added a year to her age on Jan. 28.

Marie Sypolt, Principio Road, was wished a happy birthday on Jan. 29 and Terri Yackley, Carpenter's Point, celebrated her big day on Jan. 30. To end the month, Theresa Cowan Wilson, Perryville, enjoyed birthday greetings on Jan. 31.

Speedy recovery to Cindy Bare, who recently underwent knee surgery at Harford Memorial Hospital.

Congratulations to Joyce and Dan Eder, Dr. Jack Road, as they celebrate their wedding anniversary today (Feb. 1).

Our family celebrated "Christmas Part II" Sunday following the return of our son, Jason, from a two-month stint in Libya for the State Department. Thanks to my many friends, including Dr. Galvez's former patients, as we once again successfully "prayed him home."

Good Shepherd School, 810 Aiken Ave., Perryville, will sponsor its monthly all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday, Feb. 3 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Enjoy a hearty breakfast on Super Bowl Sunday. Cost for adults is $7, while kids 5 to 12 years of age can eat for $4 each and kids under 5 are free.

Make plans to attend the "Vegas Night" at the Port Deposit VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road, on Saturday, Feb. 16. The cost is $25 per person in advance or $30 per person at the door and includes music by DJ Cross, a dinner show, gaming, door prizes, dancing, surprise guests, silent auction, raffles and Vegas-style buffet.
