Fire Prevention Week in Cecil County continues with the Miss Fire Prevention Contest on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Perryville Fire Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the contest will be held at 7 p.m. This year 18 young people are vying for five titles, including Miss Fire Prevention, Junior Miss Fire Prevention and Little Chief Fire Prevention. Admission is $5 per person.
The Cecil County Firemen's Association will sponsor Fire Prevention Awareness Day at the Lowe's in North East on Sunday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring the family and join in the fun-filled activities.

The Community Fire Company of Rising Sun will sponsor a "Fun Day" in celebration of Fire Prevention Week on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the fire hall on Biggs Highway. There will be fun activities for the whole family.
Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville, will serve its next all-you-can-eat breakfast on Sunday from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the school hall. Their varied menu is sure to please all ages and the cost at $7 for adults is reasonable.
After a summer break, the Ladies Auxiliary to the American Legion Post 135 has scheduled an All-Day Bingo for Sunday. The doors will open at 11 a.m. Food will be available for separate purchase. The VFW Post 8185 will sponsor a Fall Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the post home. Pre-registration is $13 per vehicle until Oct. 6. Registration on the day of the show will be $15 which includes one free hot dog and one free beverage. Dash plaques will be given to the first 70 registered vehicles.
