Port Deposit: Water Witch Fireman's Carnival opens Monday

The Water Witch Firemen's Carnival will start Monday, May 21 and run through Saturday, May 26. The carnival opens at 6 p.m. each evening and there will be a matinee on Saturday at 2 p.m. Come and enjoy the rides, games, raffles, music and food.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the Water Witch Fire Company met Monday at House 3 in Conowingo to finalize their carnival work schedule.

Perryville High School presented "Annie Get Your Gun" last week and it was senior Danielle McGuigan's final lead performance as "Annie Oakley" before she heads off to college in the fall. Congrats to the marvelous cast and dedicated crew, to the musicians and to director Jill Welsheimer for another successful production at PHS.

More than $1,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society Saturday evening at Good Shepherd School in Perryville as our Cecil County Relay for Life team, Bethany's Angels, hosted a Basket and Bag Bingo in the school hall. The team, along with 40 other teams, will walk all night from Friday, June 1 at 6 p.m. to Saturday, June 2 at 6 a.m. at Elkton High School. Luminaries can be purchased in memory of or in honor of your loved ones who succumbed to cancer or are struggling with cancer. Make your $10 check payable to the American Cancer Society and mail it to Bethany's Angels, 765 Jacob Tome Hwy., Port Deposit, MD 21904. No cancer in your family but want to support those who do? You can donate any amount by mail, come to Relay on June 1 and walk to support all the survivors or attend the Basket Bingo at 10 p.m. that evening in Elkton High School's cafeteria. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Cecil County Relay for Life officials will accept donations from the relay teams at "Bank Night" on May 22 at Elkton. The following week, May 29, will be "Site Night," when the team captains will choose their campsite along the track at Elkton High School.

The Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW Post 8185 entertained the Perry Point veterans on Sunday at the post home.

Maggie Jackson, Jackson Park Road, celebrated her birthday on May 13. She was wished happy birthday by her friends and family while working and playing bingo at Good Shepherd Saturday.

Happy Birthday to Tim Gibson, Port, as he celebrated a big one on May 14.

Richard Tennis, Rising Sun, subtracted a year from his age on May 15. And Mackenzie Cather celebrated her big day on May 18.

The Rising Sun Firemen's Carnival will end Saturday on the fire company grounds on Biggs Highway.

The Conowingo Lions Club bingo will resume Wednesday, May 23.

The Irish Jasper Green has scheduled a benefit performance at the Irishtown Brewing Co., LLC, 400 N. Bridge St., Elkton, on Friday, May 25 at 8 p.m. A portion of the profits will be donated to St. Patrick's Chapel, in Pilottown (now known as Conowingo).
