Hope you all enjoyed St. Patrick's Day! Since I embrace my Irish, plus German and Italian heritage, I admit to "wearin' o' the green" Sunday.
Many thanks to the patrons of Sunday's St. Patrick's' Day bull and oyster roast at the Port VFW to benefit Good Shepherd Church. Caterers Butch and Polly Webb did a bang-up job that day and everyone enjoyed the oysters while they lasted. Roger Ball was outside with the pit beef and oyster shuckers. Maggie Jackson sold raffle tickets all day long, while Marie Sypolt and daughter, Libby, handed out door prizes. Everyone enjoyed the music by The Roof Rockers.
After multiple trips between the Bainbridge Museum at 600 Rowland Drive and the Bank Building at 6 S. Main St. March 13, all the Naval artifacts were transferred from their old digs to their new digs. Museum Curator Joyce Linkey marshaled the influx of boxes making their way into the Bank, while Association Secretary Carolyn Spencer supervised their removal and transport from museum. Three trucks repeatedly traversed the 100 yards between the two buildings, filling up and dropping off, until the museum was empty and the first floor of the Bank was full. Thanks to the Navy retirees, museum volunteers and association members who "made the switch" on a beautiful sunny morning last week.
