Havre de Grace Elks Club is hosting bingo April 11, 18 and 25; breakfast April 15 and 22; a steak dinner April 13 and Italian subs April 20, both nights from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenways 12th annual River Sweep, a volunteer shoreline and roadside cleanup in honor of Earth Day, will take place in Havre de Grace, Perryville, Port Deposit and on Garrett Island on Saturday April 21. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the cleanup from 9 to noon, rain or shine.
Volunteers will meet at 8:30 in one of the five locations for registration: Tydings Park in Havre de Grace, the Community Park or the boat launch in Perryville or Marina Park or Octoraro Creek in Port Deposit. Volunteers interested in working on Garrett Island should meet at the Perryville Boat Launch during registration time. These volunteers need to bring their own boats or kayaks for transportation to and from Garrett Island and also be willing to collect and or haul trash and debris.
After registering, volunteers will fan out to spend the morning removing trash and other debris from the Upper Bay region, including the Chesapeake Bay, Susquehanna River and tributaries that feed into the river.
With an early spring this year, underbrush may grow more quickly and cover over trash and debris sooner than usual.
April 14 is the all-you-can-eat breakfast at Harmony Lodge, 1510 Tome Highway in Port Deposit. Breakfast is served from 7 to 10 am. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds benefit the lodge scholarship program. The menu includes eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, scrapple, biscuits, pancakes, sausage gravy and chipped beef gravy. Drinks include coffee and orange juice.
April 22 is the all-you-can-eat breakfast in Perryville Fire Company's Minker Hall from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Menu includes eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, biscuits, pancakes, scrapple, sausage gravy, chipped beef gravy, French toast, coffee, tea, milk, chocolate milk and orange juice. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for kids 6 to 12 and free for kids younger than 6.
"Never Thirst Again – The Promise of Easter" Easter cantata will be presented by the First Baptist Church of Perryville today (Friday) 7 p.m. The church is on Route 40, 1.5 miles east of Route 222. For more information call 410-642-6865.
