Roger and I attended the convocation and graduation ceremonies of our son, Roger A. Southall Jr., CRNA, from the University Of North Florida Brooks College Of Health – School of Nursing in Jacksonville, Fla. Roger was one of 26 graduates in the nurse anesthetist program.
At the convocation ceremony, all the graduates were presented by Tammy Carroll, CRNA, MSN and assistant program director of the nurse anesthetist program, and the hooding ceremony was by John McDonough, CRNA, EdD, ARNP, program director of the nurse anesthetist program.
After the ceremony, the entire family, Roger and I, Roger Jr.'s wife Sarah, and his sister and her family, Ruth, Karl and Hannah Ventela of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and Sarah's brother, Scott Maira, from San Francisco, had a beautiful dinner at Seasons 24 Restaurant in Jacksonville.
The following day the graduation ceremony took place at the university with Roger graduating with a master of science in nursing – nurse anesthetist. The entire family enjoyed five days at a condo on the waterfront of the St. John's River just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. On Sunday we celebrated Roger's 35th birthday by going to Buffalo Wild Wings and enjoying the Ravens game. We did all this before boarding a plane to return home.
