Remember Fire Prevention Week. This year's theme "Have Two Ways Out." The Cecil County Fireman's Association Fire Prevention Committee will be holding its ninth annual Cecil County Volunteer Fireman's Fire Prevention Awareness Day at the Elkton Super Walmart on Sunday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The program will include fire departments from Cecil County, fire equipment, Maryland State Police, Elkton Police, fire prevention ambassadors, Sparky the Fire Dog, the new command center and the state fire marshal representative and several other programs.
In addition they will have a moon bounce and raffles and the Magic of Guildo from noon to 1 p.m. Smoke alarms, hearing impaired alarms and carbon monoxide alarms and batteries will be free to those in need of one. Fire safety is a year-round effort, but Fire Prevention Week October 7 to 14 is the prime opportunity to drive these messages home as the fire and emergency service and civilians across the country rally around the issue. Each day, members of the fire and emergency see real-life examples of how fire damages people's lives and the events that often precipitate them.
Remember to change your clocks back on Nov. 4 and it's also time to check your smoke alarm batteries. Remember to practice fire prevention all year long.
