Proud father Mitch Shank sent me an article in the University of Maryland newspaper April 8 about his daughter, Michi Shank. Michi is a junior bioengineering major but also a cupcake baker using fondant icing to create Van Gogh paintings, Maryland Terps designs and Monarch butterflies on cupcakes. Michi has volunteered to give one of her kidneys to her father, a diabetic who has been insulin dependent for 40 years and is legally blind. Helen Cayer announced the Havre de Grace Arts Commission's May 6 concert by the Lyric Opera Baltimore at 3 p.m. at the Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 S. Union Ave., Havre de Grace.
