What would you do with $50,000?
That's a question Joseph Garcia, 29, of Bel Air, wasn't preoccupied with until he won the lottery.
Garcia, who lives in the Marywood development, stopped Sunday at the Fallston Shell station for gas and to cash in a few scratch-offs. While he was there, he bought another ticket, this one for Money Mania scratch-off.
He scratched off the new ticket in the car and was in shock by the $50,000 ticket.
"I had my friend check it right after I won because I wasn't sure," Garcia said Tuesday.
He then took the ticket to his parents and had them lock it in their safe, ultimately claiming his prize Tuesday at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
"I'm usually happy to get $50 here and there," Garcia said.
Garcia said that with the winnings, he plans to pay off student loans, pay back his parents and then "get some new shoes."
Garcia said he had only told his close friend, girlfriend and parents about the win.
"I'm still a little in shock," Garcia said.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
