Come one, come all, the Darlington Independence Day celebration will held Saturday, June 29. This 30th celebration will begin with the Independence Day parade, with participants lining up at 4 p.m at the weigh station on Route 1. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m.
Following the parade, there will be entertainment, including the Darlington Idol Contest, and a spectacular fireworks display at dark at Francis Silver Park.
In addition, our wonderful food vendors will be returning this year with grilled items, homemade ice cream and similar fare. Please patronize these vendors in the park as they are the only food vendors who contribute a portion of their proceeds, a critical portion of our fundraising to this event.
The Darlington Volunteer Fire Company wants you to be safe this summer and has issued the following tip: Summer is here. Think hydration. Be sure every member of your group hydrates before the start of outdoor activities. Soda, coffee and alcohol are very bad choices. They will actually make the situation worse. Consider water, flavored water or a 50/50 sports drink and water mix. Stop at lest hourly for a break and some water. One of the first signs or dehydration is a headache.
The Dublin United Church will be holding Vacation Bible School from July 15 through 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. "Fun Fare Where God's World Comes Together" is the theme for the week. Come out for a light supper at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy this fun-filled week for lots to learn and do. For registration or any other information call the church office, 410-457-8003.
