Exercise classes led by Arena Club instructors will again be part of Healthy Harford Day 2013 in September. (August 12, 2013)

Healthy Harford, a coalition of local government agencies, businesses, nonprofits and citizens dedicated to improving the health of Harford County residents, will once again host Healthy Harford Day on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Bel Air Farmers' Market. The annual event is designed to raise awareness about Healthy Harford's mission, as well as services, policies and programs in the community to help residents get and stay healthy.

Last year's event attracted hundreds of people who turned out to enjoy free fitness classes, cooking demonstrations and kids' activities, and this year's event promises to offer even more healthy fun for the entire family. According to event organizers, this year's Healthy Harford Day will include free exercise classes provided by The Arena Club, health screening by Upper Chesapeake HealthLink, walk analysis by Charm City Run, boot camp circuit course courtesy of the Y of Maryland and free bicycle helmets and fitting provided by Healthy Harford and the Greg Krause Helmet Foundation.

New this year, in partnership with the Harford County Public Library, Healthy Harford is launching a Get Healthy Harford campaign to encourage Harford County residents to take steps toward improving their health. Participants who pledge to make positive changes will receive a free Get Healthy Harford T-shirt and car window cling while supplies last, and can bring their completed checklist to Healthy Harford Day to be entered to win a $100 gift basket. To participate, please register online at http://www.hcplonline.org or in person at any public library or county senior activity center.

Healthy Harford Day will once again feature vendors with information on everything from fitness and nutrition to Lyme disease, recycling and smoking cessation. This year's event will also feature a larger children's area and include a bounce house, face painting, Stroller Strides, finger printing provided by the Harford County Sheriff's Office and appearances by members of the Baltimore Blast.
