The Harford County Public Library, Jarrettsville Lions Club, businesses of Jarrettsville and representatives from Harford County Government have partnered to create an evening Twilight Farmer's Market from 3 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 5 at Jarrett's field on Route 23. Plans for the event include live music by Almost Certain; wine and beer tastings; children's activities; pit beef and pizza; and the opportunity to buy local, all among a stunning backdrop of sunflowers. Fresh organic vegetables, delicious local meats, cheeses, baked goods and ice cream will be available for purchase, in addition to stunning bouquets.

The event was developed to encourage tourists visiting the local sunflower fields to spend the evening in Jarrettsville and is the highlight of two weeks of unique opportunities in the community between Sept. 30 and Oct. 12. The sunflowers on Route 23, planted by the Rose Family, are anticipated to be in full bloom at that time.

"The Twilight Market is already generating excitement in town," Ashley Adams, of Keene Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram, the headlining sponsor for the event, said. "Local businesses are thrilled for the opportunity to host families and showcase our community. Numerous sales, specials and activities are planned to help celebrate the season of the sunflowers."

Supporting sponsors for the event include The Rose Family, Clear Meadow Farm, Jim's Bottleworks, Waste Industries and County Councilman Chad Shrodes.

"The Jarrettsville community has united to develop the Twilight Market," Amber Shrodes, Harford County Public Library Foundation director and an organizer for the event, said. "Everyone is engaged – the Jarrettsville businesses, the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company, members of the agricultural community, the Jarrettsville Lions Club and the library. Further we have received outstanding support from our sponsors. We are grateful for everyone's generous support and excited to offer visitors this unique experience."

Admission to the Twilight Market is free. Beer and wine tastings are $10 and will feature local wineries Fiore, Harford Vineyards and L'amore di Vino; and distributor Bacchus Importers LTD. Craft beer tastings will be offered by DuClaw Brewing Company and Sentman Distributors.

Proceeds benefit Harford County Public Library and the Jarrettsville Lions Club.
