The Harford County Office of Tourism has released "Destination Harford 2013," the county's official visitor guide and calendar of events. This year's guide features the commemoration bicentennial of the attack on Havre de Grace by the British on May 3, 2013. Reenactments, encampments, tall ships and concerts can be enjoyed by visitors to the event. Fireworks, a 5-K race and the annual Decoy Festival also round out the weekend's festivities.
There are plenty of opportunities to get outdoors and enjoy Harford County's scenic attractions. Rocks State Park and Susquehanna State Park are preparing for their busy seasons of camping, tubing, walking, climbing, and horseback riding, kayaking and canoeing. The public golf courses in Harford County are some of the best in the state. Public cruises are available aboard the Lantern Queen Riverboat and the Skipjack Martha Lewis. Taking a walk on the Ma & Pa Trail is always popular, and visiting the Rebel Dog Park in Fallston is a great way to get outdoors with your loyal best friend.
The azaleas will be in bloom at Ladew Topiary Gardens, which opened April 1 and offers a great place to take Mom for an outing on Mother's Day or any day. Ladew will also be hosting its annual Garden Festival on May 4. The Dublin Country Fair is also being held on May 4.
