Linking All So Others Succeed, LASOS, Inc., headquartered on Courtland Street in Bel Air, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from the PNC Foundation to expand the a mentoring program for at risk youth.
LASOS will provide mentor help for young people in Harford County who need academic, leadership and social supports to help make successful in the future.
"We are blessed to be able to count PNC as a part of the friends of LASOS programming, their support will allow children to attend summer camp, mentoring programs and leadership opportunities that they would otherwise not have been able to attend," Melynda Vélez, executive director of LASOS, said in a press release.
The grant from the PNC Foundation, which receives its principal funding from the PNC Financial Services Group, Inc., will allow LASOS to offer programming for more than 250 children, to provide mentoring and leadership opportunities to more than 75.
"PNC is committed to supporting the communities we serve and our children and is pleased to partner with LASOS to further invest in our children," said Lourdes Montes-Greenan, community consultant, PNC Bank. "This program will help prepare our children for a successful future."
The PNC Foundation supports organizations that provide services for the benefit of communities in which it has a significant presence. The foundation focuses its philanthropic mission on early childhood education and community and economic development, which includes the arts and culture.
