Port Deposit: Another tanker truck crashes in Port Deposit
Port was again the focus of attention last Friday night when the driver of second tanker truck lost control as he was coming down the Route 222 hill into town, crashing into Marina Park and bursting into flames. Although a Water Witch Fire Company crew was already in town, responding to another emergency, their prompt attempt at rescue of the truck driver was futile. Several other fire units were called to help and it took several hours to control the flames. The fireball could be seen from both the Tydings and Hatem bridges and Port's electric and phone services were knocked out. Thanks again to all those involved in this second unusual accident and resulting explosion and fire. Kudos to WWFC Ladies Auxiliary members Shirley Sentman, Carrie McCall, Stephanie Gibson and Janet Dill for providing drinks and sandwiches for the fire and EMS responders.
