The VFW Post 8185 will sponsor a Fall Car Show on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the post home at 520 Susquehanna River Road, Port Deposit. Registration on the day of the show will be $15, which includes one free hot dog and one free beverage. Dash plaques will be given to the first 70 registered vehicles. Stop by for food, raffles, music, fun – and all those fabulous classic cars and trucks. The rain date will be Oct. 26. Call 410-642-2847 for pre-registration, directions or additional information. All proceeds benefit our veterans and/or the VFW's Adopt-a-Unit Program.

The memorial service for the late Bill McAdams will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church, 828 Aiken Ave., in Perryville. Much sympathy is extended to his family and many friends.

Boy Scout Troop 143 will prepare and serve a Spaghetti Dinner and Bake Sale on Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at West Nottingham Presbyterian Church (corner of Firetower Road and Jacob Tome Highway, Colora. The menu will be tossed salad, spaghetti with meatballs, dessert and beverage. It will be an all-you-can-eat dinner and take-out will be available. The cost will be $8 for adults and children 10 and under will cost $4.

Fire Prevention Month in Cecil County continues with the Miss Fire Prevention Contest on Saturday at the Perryville Fire Hall. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the contest will be held at 7 p.m. This year there are 18 young people vying for five titles, including Miss Fire Prevention, Junior Miss Fire Prevention and Little Chief Fire Prevention. Admission is $5 per person.

The Water Witch Fire Company will sponsor its monthly Chicken Barbecue Dinner on Saturday starting at 1 p.m. until sold out. The location is Woodlawn Station, off Jacob Tome Highway and Abrahams Road. Support our firemen (and women) as they raise funds for the fire company.

The Cecil County Firemen's Association will sponsor Fire Prevention Awareness Day at the Lowe's in North East on Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring the family and join in the fun-filled activities.

Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Ave., Perryville, has scheduled a Fall Festival for Saturday, Oct. 19 from noon until 7 p.m. in and on the school grounds. Look for plenty of affordable family fun with kids' activities, games, vendors, music, food, beverages, raffles and kids' rides (weather permitting).

Thanks to all the bingo players who attended the all-day bingo sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary to the American Legion Post 135, Perryville. The hall was filled, a profit was made and another all-day bingo has been scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 3. Let's support them again next month!
