Susan Hopkins, of Irvine, Calif., flew in last Saturday for a week's vacation in and around her hometown of Port Deposit. She visited with old classmates from Tome School including Grace Bruner-Reynolds and Kevin Reynolds, Linda and Brad Snyder, and Ray and Peggy Spencer last Sunday.

A Baby Shower was held on May 25 hosted by Lu and Chuck Helm at their home in Bulle Rock. The guest of honor, Nicole Helm, of Port Deposit, enjoyed the good company of her family and friends, including two grandmothers and one great-grandmother.

Much sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Edger Tennis, who passed away last week at home. Condolences are sent to wife, Marie and children Eddie, Susan, and Claire.

Teresa Bittner completed her rehab at Citizen's Care Center after suffering from a fall and has returned to her residence at Sunny Acres Assisted Living, North East.

Received sad news from Debbie Welsh of Perryville last weekend. Her mom, Madeline Welsh, passed away on May 23 and her private funeral service was held at Patterson's on May 28. Sending condolences and caring thoughts to you, Debbie.

The 42 team captains for this year's Relay for Life met at Elkton High School, James Street, Elkton on May 28 in order to pickup their teams' t-shirts and to pick out their campsites along the running track. The teams will meet again to Relay today, May 31, with opening ceremonies starting at 6 p.m. Entertainment and activities are scheduled throughout the evening with closing ceremonies at 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, June 1. The Cecil County teams have raised almost $85,000 toward the goal of $138,000.

FisherFolk, take heed: The seventh annual Rockfish Tournament will be held in Port Deposit on Saturday from 5:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. with cash prizes for largest weighted fish. Entry fee is $50 and you may call 410-378-9367 to enter or for info.

This year's Sunfest, the annual town-wide street festival in Rising Sun, will be held on the first Saturday in June from 9 to 5 p.m.

The Darlington Volunteer Fire Company has scheduled an All-Day Scrapbooking event for Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Good Shepherd Catholic School, 800 Aiken Avenue, Perryville, will hold its 57th Summer Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 8 from noon until 6 p.m. in and on the school grounds. Spaghetti suppers will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. and there will be games, rides, raffles, vendors, pony rides, a puppet show and music. Mark your calendars and plan to come! Darlington-Dublin VFW Post 10146, 3440 Conowingo Road, Street, will sponsor a dinner and dance on June 8. Tickets are $10 each and dinner is served at 6 p.m. with music following at 7 p.m.
