District 10 VFW Ladies Auxiliary members met on Feb. 5 at the Elkton VFW Post 8175. After a delicious fried chicken dinner, the meeting was opened by district president Dee Russo. Reports were heard from all four auxiliary units: Post 7687 Chesapeake City, Post 6027 North East, Post 8175 Elkton, and Post 8185 Port Deposit. All units contributed prizes for the Vegas Night fundraiser scheduled for Feb. 16 at Post 8185, Port Deposit.

Call Linda now and reserve your tickets to Vegas Night at the Port Deposit VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road, on Saturday, Feb. 16. The cost is $25 per person in advance or $30 per person at the door and includes music by DJ Cross, a dinner show, gaming, door prizes, dancing, surprise guests, silent auction, raffles and Vegas-style buffet. A Basket Bingo will be held at the American Legion Post 194, 336 E. Main Street, Rising Sun, on Sunday, Feb. 17. Doors open at 2 p.m.; the early bird game will be played at 2:50 p.m. and the regular program will begin at 3 p.m. Tickets are $12 for three cards and extra packs can be purchased for $5. Proceeds benefit Boy Scout Troop 28, Rising Sun. Call 410-658-3915.

The Port Deposit Heritage Corporation met on Feb. 6 in the upstairs meeting room of the Paw Paw Building. The group discussed two fundraisers to be scheduled this summer.

Many returns of the day are sent out to Frieda Jack, Rising Sun, as she celebrated her birthday on Feb. 9. And Happy Birthday to Harry Harris, Elkton, as he celebrated his big day on Feb. 9 with his granddaughters and friend Shirley Eller at Union United Methodist Church's basket bingo.

Jason Hughes, formerly of Conowingo, enjoyed birthday wishes on Feb. 11 and Jody Hasson, daughter of Norman and Susan Hasson of Colora, celebrated on Feb. 12.

Elkton High School hosted the first Captain's Meeting for this year's Relay for Life on Feb. 12. The current 26 teams and 244 participants have raised $13,108.68 for the American Cancer Society.

Congratulations to our son Craig and his wife Heather as they celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary on Feb. 12.

Kelli Eaton, daughter of Carl Eaton and Susie Eaton, added a year to her age on Feb. 13.

Hope you all experienced a love – ly evening on Feb. 14. Happy St. Valentine's Day to you and your loved ones.

Doris Nicholson, long-time Port resident, subtracted a year from her age on Feb. 15.

The Knights of Columbus Council 2002 will serve its annual Fish Fry each Friday in Lent in Cifaldo Hall, Good Shepherd School, 810 Aiken Avenue, Perryville, from 4 to 7 p.m. starting today, Friday, Feb. 15. Three options will be offered: fish dinner for $6, steamed shrimp dinner for $10, and combo fish and shrimp dinner for $10.

There will be a Pampered Chef "Spring Fling" on Saturday, Feb. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Fallston Fire Hall, 2201 Carrs Mill Road, next to Fallston High School, off Route 152. RSVP to Christina at 443-309-4995. Enjoy a fun demo, recipe sampling, door prizes, and the new spring products.

Tickets are on sale for Good Shepherd's St. Patrick's Day Bull and Oyster Roast at the VFW Post 8185, 520 Susquehanna River Road on Sunday, March 17. Proceeds will benefit Good Shepherd Parish.
