The Masonic Charities of Maryland Inc. held its sixth annual scholarship awards banquet in the ballroom of the Grand Lodge of AF & AM of Maryland in Cockeysville. The afternoon began with hors d'oeuvres, followed by the scholarship awards and honors and a delicious dinner. Three Cecil County students were recipients of a $500 scholarships, including Chanelle Jones from North East High School, who will be attending UMBC; Blayze Miller from Perryville High School, who will be attending Kaplan University; and Nicholas Spangler from Rising Sun, who will be attending Penn State.
The 115th annual Grand Session of the Grand Chapter of Maryland "Dreams, Friendships and Memories" was held at the Clarion Fontainebleau Resort in Ocean City. On Sunday morning the Eastern Star members attended St. Peter's Lutheran Church for morning Church Services. After the service many of the members attended the PAGO luncheon (Past Appointed Grand Officers) luncheon. Sunday evening the annual Grand Sessions Banquet was held in the Grand Ballroom honoring the Worthy Grand Matron Debbie Hribar and Worthy Grand Patron David Hall and the other Grand Officers of 2012-2013. The Grand Session opened on Monday morning and ran through Wednesday. The Grand Officers of 2012-2013 were Hribar, Hall, Associate Grand Matron Bette Bowen, Associate Grand Patron Bill Gunn, Grand Secretary Donna Almony, Grand Treasurer Patti Snell, Grand Conductress Claudia Eaton, Associate Grand Conductress Nancy Ford, Grand Trustees Jon Thompson, Leslie Gilliam and Joan Morris, Grand Chaplain Elaine Niemeyer, Grand Lecturer Jean Chance, Grand Marshall Judy Birckhead, Grand Organist Donna Runyan, Grand Adah Toby Harvie, Grand Ruth Beverly Geisler, Grand Esther Sharon Earl, Grand Electa Loretta Donaldson, Grand Warder Sheryl Peters, Grand Sentinel Cecil Jones and me, Grand Martha.
Havre de Grace Chapter 27 Order of the Eastern Star was well represented at the 115th annual Grand Session of the Grand Chapter of Maryland in Ocean City. Those attending included The Worthy Matron Sister Carolyn Mathias, Worthy Patron Brother Ronald Mathias, Secretary Sister Joyce Caldwell, Treasurer Sister Diane Smith, Chaplain Sister Louise Fagan, Chaplain Sister Aileen Squires and my husband, Brother Roger A. Southall Sr., and me.
The Principio Methodist Church on Route 7, Perryville, is hosting a lunch and card party on Thursday, June 20 beginning at 11:30 a.m. Cost is $10 per person. July 13 is the Diamond in the Rough Triathlon at Perryville Community Park. The race is sanctioned by the USAT. There is an entry fee for participants. Free for spectators. Summer worship times are changing beginning Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The traditional service is at 9 a.m. with the contemporary service at 10:30. Regular hours will go back on Sept. 8.
Father's Day breakfast will be served at St. Paul's Lutheran Church on Sunday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Come and bring your loved ones for a delicious breakfast of biscuits and country gravy, sausage links, egg casserole, fruit and juice. Breakfast is hosted by the Women of the ELCA.
