A soup and pie sale will be held at Hopewell United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 2. The time is 10 – 1.

Please note that the Perryville United Methodist Church has cancelled their chicken pot pie sale until further notice.

The Washington College Alumni are holding their annual Toast to George in honor of college founder, George Washington's birthday on Saturday, Feb. 23 at the Laurapin Grill in Havre de Grace from 4-6 p.m. Please RSVP to http://www.washcoll.edu/live/events/1807-havre-de-grace-md-toast-to-george or alumni_office@washcoll.edu.

Upcoming - 20 game bingo non-smoking events with food and drink available:

On Saturday, Feb. 16, my husband Roger and I will celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary. This is special because we married on a Saturday evening 39 years ago. This was also the year of the energy crisis! Do you remember only being able to 10 gallons of gas at a gas station? It is also a special day because we were married on my father-in-law's birthday.

Happy anniversary to Peg and Tom Dymond as they celebrating their wedding anniversary on Feb. 20.

Yesterday in Cecil County history: On Feb. 14, 1892 the New Presbyterian Church was dedicated.

Historic happenings on Feb. 14: Oregon became the 33rd state in 1859 and in 1912 Arizona became the 48th state. On the 15th, Galileo was born in 1564.
