Students at Fallston High School were dismissed at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday because of a power outage in the area.
The Harford County Public Schools alert shortly after noon read: "Due to interior lighting issues as a result of an area-wide power outage, Fallston High School will dismiss students today at 12:45 p.m. In addition, all Fallston High School after school/evening activities are canceled, including parent/teacher conferences."
HCPS Communications Manager Teri Kranefeld wrote in an e-mail that no other school in the area was affected.
"Due to the layout of the building at the high school," Kranefeld wrote, "interior lighting was an issue in the building. Fallston Middle was also affected but they have natural lighting."
