The ministries is collecting spiral notebooks, pens and pencils for Haitian children living in work camps. The school supplies may be dropped off on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., through Sept. 15, at 170 Airport Drive, Westminster.
The work camps are called "bateys," which are settlements of former Haitian sugar cane workers who had been sold into slavery. Once pronounced free, many remain in there and have little clothing, food and basic necessities.
The Least of these Ministries runs five mission trips each year each year to the area. During these trips, construction projects are undertaken and the school supplies will be distributed.
