It was a proud day Wednesday, Jan. 18, for Knorr Brake Corp. founder Gregory Gagarin when officials gathered at the Westminster Techology Park to break ground for the company's new manufacturing facility. Gagarin founded the company in 1972 in Delaware with five employees in a small warehouse. It now makes braking devices for mass transit systems worldwide. The company anticipates adding 60 workers to its 230-employee work force. Gagarin, who will be 90 in several months, took part in this week's groundbreaking ceremony.
