It may have seemed like a good idea to use active duty SEALs and live rounds to show the real heroism that these people do every day. It may have seemed like a good idea to use active duty SEALs and live rounds to show the real heroism that these people do every day. Turning that idea into an offensively generic action movie, in which the non-actors' stiff performances as themselves take the real out of reality, makes "Act of Valor" as true and revealing as straight-to-DVD work by one of the "Expendables."
