Baltimore Ravens fans from all across Baltimore County are invited to a Purple Friday rally on Friday, Jan. 20, in downtown Towson to show their support for the Ravens in advance of Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.
At the 12:30 p.m. event, which a Baltimore County news release said will be a "major purple pandemonium pep rally," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will temporarily rename Patriot Plaza — the area between the two downtown Towson courthouse where the event will be held — as Ravens Plaza.
In addition to the rally, the Towson Chamber of Commerce, which is collaborating on the event along with the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Towson Council of Community Associations, will take a group picture of all the Ravens fans in attendance to show Towson's support for the Ravens.
Nancy Hafford, executive director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce, urged fans in an email to wear their Ravens gear and Ravens colors—anything to show Towson's Ravens spirit.
Around 60 people braved the cold weather on Friday, Jan. 13 to take a similar photo before the team's 20-13 victory over the Houston Texans, but with better notice, Hafford expects a much larger turnout this week.
