Timonium ShopRite cart sweep raises hunger awareness [Pictures]
Four customers were racing around ShopRite of Timonium on Wednesday, Oct. 10, filling their carts and looking for bargains - and working to help ease hunger in Maryland. The store hosted the inaugural Shopping Cart Sweep to benefit the Maryland Food Bank. The event was designed to be a "fun and creative backdrop to bring attention to the need for food assistance in our area," according to store officials. Local contestants were given four minutes to shop and get as many items into their carts as they could. All contestants could keep the contents of their carts, and the winner - Debra Hitt, of Towson - also received a $250 ShopRite gift card.
