Fire in Freeland brings 27 units to scene

A garage fire in Freeland, brought 27 fire units to the 19900 block of Middletown Road on Nov. 6.

Units from York County, Pa. and Baltimore County responded to the fire, which was called in at 2:04 p.m., said police department spokeswoman, Julia Hargrove. Firefighters arrived at 2:11 and found heavy fire in the garage.

Because there are no fire hydrants in the rural area, crews set up water tankers at Prettyboy Elementary School and shuttled water to the fire from there.

The fire was under control at 2:28 p.m., Hargrove said.

Fire investigators were not called to the scene, so the cause of the fire and the dollar amount of damage is unknown, Hargrove said.
