Area residents are invited to attend the Sept. 29 grand opening ceremony of the new Halethorpe location for Vehicles for Change.
Members of the nonprofit will conduct free car check-ups for community members, checking their vehicle's oil and tire pressure.
The free event is from noon to 2 p.m. at the organization's new location, 4111 Washington Blvd.
The nonprofit has worked to improve transportation for disadvantaged families in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. and thereby giving them access to better jobs, according to a press release from the nonprofit. It has awarded more than 3,800 refurbished cars to low-income residents since 1999.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
