Many thanks to the individuals, families and businesses, who have donated money, time or services to Catonsville Rails to Trails. We have been able to clear a mile of the Short Line Trail, off Maiden Choice Lane at Garden Ridge Road, and we maintain the Number 8 Streetcar Path.

We are so fortunate to have teams of volunteers ready to help with fall cleanups. Most of them are from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County — students, who want to be involved in the Catonsville community.

The one thing we do not have is money to rent chippers and dumpsters. Our work gloves are worn out and our tool inventory is very sparse. We do not have funds to feed our hard working volunteers at noon. A large cleanup day costs $500-$750.

In the past, Catonsville residents have rallied to help build the grass roots effort to create these trails. We desperately need financial assistance.

Donations of used garden tools, specifically leaf rakes and clippers, are also needed.

Please go to our website at http://www.catonsvillerailstotrails.org and become a member or make a donation. Mail donations to CRTT, P.O. Box 3282, Catonsville, MD 21228.

We are planning cleanup days Oct. 13 and Nov. 10 on the Short Line.

If your business or organization would like to be a sponsor or provide a meal, please call me at 443-326-5474 or send an e-mail to sweeneysmith@comcast.net.
