I would like to thank everyone involved in the first Catonsville Kite Flying Contest, held at Charlestown retirement community May 19.
This intergenerational event brought together our residents with families and students from Arbutus, Hillcrest and Lansdowne Elementary schools, along with Our Lady of Victory School, on a bright sun-splashed morning.
In particular, much appreciation is extended to Charlestown resident and Rotarian Pat Kasuda for her vision and leadership in creating the contest.
It takes a dedicated team of volunteers to orchestrate a first-time event so we thank members of the Catonsville Rotary Club and residents of Charlestown for sharing their time and talent.
Finally, we thank our judges, Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Susan Souder, Del. Jim Malone and Charlestown resident Carroll Yingling. They had a challenging assignment in evaluating the many creative and high-flying kites!
A dedicated committee is already planning next year's event so watch for details later this summer.
